Naked Salve!

...who said carrier oil couldn't be fun?

I've really been meaning to do this for a long time, make CW Naked Salve! Free from the chains that bind, free to be whatever I need it to be, free to stand on its own merit and bust out of the stereotypical carrier oil standard... First of all, a quick rundown on carrier oil and why EO users love it and need it. A carrier oil is the vegetable oil from the fatty part of a plant, namely the nut seed or kernel and each carrier oil has its own therapeutic benefits. CW Naked Salve has more than a few! Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils and faithful EO users have their favorites. My preference is coconut oil, an organic, hand processed coconut oil with lots of benefits and nutrients all it's own. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer as well as antibacterial. Added olive oil has of anti-oxidants, including hydroxytyrosol and, anti-inflammatory properties, beeswax seals in moisture as well as the essential oils used topically. The benefits of coconut and olive oils, beeswax, and vitamin e support the healing properties of pure essentials while protecting the skin from sensitivities, a most winning combination. Many of you have made the original Camp Wander All Purpose Healing Salve, it's a workhorse of a salve, isn't it? Well, CW Naked Salve is simply All Purpose Healing Salve without the EOs making it very versatile and emollient carrier oil.

Single Use:

2 drops CW Airway Essential Oil

1/4 teaspoon CW Naked Salve

Blend together in your hands - rub on the back of your neck, on your throat and lightly under your nose. Make sure you cup your hands over your mouth and nose and deeply inhale too!

Naked Salve
Author: Camp Wander
Ingredients
  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons organic beeswax pastilles
  • 1/2 teaspoon vitamin e oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosehip seed oil (optional)
Instructions
  1. A large recipe like this will fill FIVE - 4 oz glass jam jars. If you want less, adjust the recipe. If you would like to fill more small jars than large, adjust accordingly. It's nice to have a few small jars to take with you. The top photo shows 1/4oz in the front row and 1oz glass jars in the back. Note: glass isn't necessary when your salve is NAKED :)
  2. On low heat, melt the coconut, olive oil and beeswax in a warm bath, stirring with a knife every few minutes until melted. You don't have to babysit the melt, an occasional stir will do! The melting process will take at least 20 min, you want a slow melt.
  3. Pour into jars of your choice and let cool.
  4. Put a paper towel over the jars while cooling and wait to cover with lids until completely cooled down. Shelf life is approximately 4 months.
  5. Use your new Naked Salve as you would a carrier oil ~ scoop out the amount you need with a swipe of a finger.
  6. Place it the palm of your hand and add your EOs, apply topically.
