Steamy Protocols for Congestion

Steamy Protocols came to life for me a year ago when I discovered by accident how effective a diffuser can be combined with steam.  I know I'm not the only parent who's spent many long nights with kids in a steam filled bathroom trying to ease the breathing of a little one.  If you or your child has a stuffy nose or a nagging cough, especially a croupy cough, which sounds like hacking or barking this is a great protocol for the evening. Even allergy symptoms can be relieved with a little EO steam.  I really could have used EOs and a diffuser when my kids were little, it's amazing they survived such deprivation!

This is all you need to do to get some steamy satisfaction:  Safely set up a diffuser in the bathroom and fill with very warm water (you'll get mad vapor!) then add your choice of pure essential oils.  Next, run a hot, steamy shower or bath, filling the bathroom with steam will help open airways and the droplets of essential oils can get in and start the healing process. I love diffusers for their ability to lace the air with tiny droplets of pure plant essence in a cloud of water vapor. There's nothing like it to kick congestion and get to the infection.  The humidity in the air relieves the upper-airway swelling that can cause the croupy cough and the whole experience becomes more relaxing.  It's not a bad steam facial either :)

Here are a few favorite congestion buster blends that you might want to try and then we'll move on to another steamy idea :)

I tried and failed to take video of how a diffuser really shines amidst the steam, it's just crazy!  The moist air lifts and magnifies the vapor, you feel the essential oil infused steam going into your sinuses and lungs for some sweet relief with real healing qualities.  I've said it before, but I'll say it again, a good essential oil diffuser is one of the least expensive yet most effective home health tools you can invest in!

One other suggestion before I type "The End"...

Most of us know and love the many benefits of a magnesium bath for detoxing.  Should the day come that you feel under the weather, jump in a magnesium bath and sweat it out!  Oh, but you before you do that, set up your diffuser with healing EOs like Lavender, Lemon, and Melaleuca!  3 drops of each!  Such a great treat for your body and a simple protocol for you :)

The End.
