Bug Proof Your Hiking Boots and Socks

Leather boots to tennies, field to stream get yourself some extra protection from those bugs hanging out in the grass, sage and hayfield. Everyone, from trailblazers to farmers need to be aware of ticks and mosquitos.  Have you ever thought of spraying down your shoes, socks and pant legs for extra protection? Here's some ideas for you to try this summer, a conditioning application if your boots happen to be leather as well as an application for synthetic materials that will work well on exposed socks and skin too!

Leather Boot Spray {reapply as needed}

15 drops Melaleuca

15 drops Eucalyptus

1 ounce (30 ml) Neat Oil leather conditioner OR solid coconut oil

Blend oils and rub into leather, let sit for 10 minutes then buff off.

Sock & Synthetic Boot Spray {reapply as needed}

15 drops Melaleuca

15 drops Eucalyptus

1 oz  alcohol-free witch hazel (it's nice to your skin)

1/2 teaspoon sea salt to emulsify the ingredients

Shake bottle well, spray, let dry.

Be sure to spray socks if they're exposed and of course, any exposed skin above those socks. Sock and Boot Spray is safe for skin contact.

Happy Trails!
