Summer Nights Bug Spray
May 24, 2017
A pretty little body spray that’s perfectly scented, moisturizing and craftily designed to repel evening bugs (not your date) is the goal here and all quite doable!
Three safe, non toxic ingredients will get you all of the above – subtle summer fragrance, soft skin and BO (bug offensive).
- A dry oil like organic Rosehip Seed Oil used as the base in a bug repellent is my preference because it does several things, it absorbs into the skin rather than evaporating into the air and the film it creates on your skin helps mask the sweet smell of you (along with a few key compelling yet repelling essential oils of course)
- When you think of Lavender essential oil, relaxation and restful sleep are usually the first things that come to mind. But along with its lovely aroma and soothing qualities, Lavender is also effective at fighting off bugs. Remember Lavender sachets?
- Is there anything more “summery” than citrus? Bergamot is a favorite essential oil for its mood lifting fragrance but it’s also a well known bug repellent. Be aware that there’s one catch with Bergamot, it’s a photosensitive oil so don’t use this particular bug spray on your skin if you’re going to be out in the sun.
Lavender and Bergamot – wicked lovely!
Here’s to a beautiful summer, warm evenings and minimal bug bites!
